Olean Outdoor Fest
There’s a new event coming to Olean - one that’s sure to be an annual tradition that the whole family will enjoy! Amped Up Events, LLC, Western New York’s premier event host, will showcase the Olean Outdoor Festival Aug. 25-26 at Bradner Stadium, East State Street in Olean. Friday’s activities take place from 5-11pm and Saturday’s activities run from 10am-11pm. In the words of Jamie Hamed, owner of Amped Up Events, LLC, “I wanted to have an event that was just knock-your-socks-off fun … something that the whole family could come and enjoy and also something that would fit all ages! I love the natural amenities we have, such as the river, and I wanted to see them get more use.” Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for children ages 8-16 (free for children under 8). Best of all, proceeds will benefit a variety of local and national organizations including the Rehabilitation Center, HomeCare and Hospice, Make a Wish Buffalo and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. COMEDY NIGHT: Get ready to laugh Friday at 6:30pm. The In Jest Comedy Variety Show with Dan Viola and Nels Ross is a clean, family-friendly show featuring stand-up comedy, juggling and awesome stunts that have wowed audiences across the country. Leading man Ross hails from Buffalo and studied mathematics, education and theater at the University at Buffalo, toured with a nonprofit circus, trained with Broadway and Cirque du Soleil instructors, and has taught performing arts and life skills workshops across the U.S. In Jest’s mission is “to promote joy and goodwill through uplifting presentations that help people live, laugh, love, and learn,” and their show will do just that!
LIVE MUSIC: Enjoy live music both nights of the festival from local bands! On Friday, Olean area band Vapor will perform from 8-11pm. On Saturday, Darkwater Duo of Bradford, PA will take the stage from 7-11pm. Members Dave McGarry and Rick Griesbaum give a modern take on acoustic music by focusing on their harmonies, guitar work and complex foot samples. These seasoned area bands promise to put on a good show for this brand new festival!
